c'est la vie

A friend posted this this morning, seems somewhat inspirational:

When you have lost everything, you have nothing to lose, and when you have nothing to lose you have nothing to hold back..it's time to complete my unfinished business.

Sometimes you have to push through, and set your values straight. You cannot have it all, so focus on one thing that will lead you to the better path in the future.

So for pastime, I've been doing portraits, might consider starting commission work. Also need to start working on some animations.

Until next time: c'est la vie

New Start Update

Long time no post, and I should be and will be posting more often.

For the last two months, I've been getting adjusted to new surroundings, new environments, new working environment, just plain new stuff. So for those who don't know, I've been employed as a full time animator at Visual Concepts/ 2kSport in Marin county. very new and different because I moved to Novato, which is kind of a small town 20 mile from San Fransisco. Small family community in a very hot and hilly place, definitely new from Seattle.

I'll be honest and it has been pretty rough for me, coming from a bigger city right out of college and move to a new place, leaving behind my family, friends, and usual surrounding. For the first few weeks, and still a bit am, I've been homesick.

But I've been adjusting well to my new surroundings, I am grateful that the company gave me a chance and position to work with some talented, knowledgeable, and experienced people, who are extremely friendly and helpful. I am put under a great lead who is very patience, smart, and humorous; and I get started on a project that enable me to get my feet wet, and slowly picks up so I am not thrown into a major project that is close to shipping date.

In the end, this is a major learning experience for me. Technical, personal, and education. I have so much to learn and will continue to work my way up to constantly improve myself and my artistic passion.

Everyday will be a struggle, but need to obtain the best of it, and learn from it, and how to improve it. Major journey is ahead of me, this is just the start. I'll try to update more as time goes on, and update more artwork aswell.

Beside hiking and wondering the streets, I need some thing to look forward to after work, thinking of doing art everyday, 2d animation project, which my awesome boss got a light table for me because my light box broke at home, and the hundred of animation papers, thanks again Roy! and just do drawing cartoons, caricatures, and portraits. Art is my passion, and I have lost sight of it for a bit after I graduated, but now i need to refocus. Here's a portrait I did for pastime after work. Enjoy, untill next time. Peace out

Been a rough ride, but starting new.

Been a rough ride for awhile, graduated from The Art Institute of Seattle and has been trying to find a job. I'm grateful for all my friends and family that have been there in the past and still with me now and supported me.

I need to update my blog more often, but I'm a man of little words. Here is my website for those who are interested, www.phunganimation.com

And here are some quick doodles and sketches just to practice up on my character designs, and trying to experiment and expand a new style.

New Project: Dog poses.

So I have a new project that involve a four legged creature, a dog.

So I went to the lab and rush out some key poses and just basic
feel for what I want. Spend a bit under a hour and rushed this out,
it's not much but it's a bases for the 3d I am going to do. I have less
than 2 weeks to do this and under 5 seconds, it might end up to be 8 seconds.

Let's hope I don't kill myself with this on top of my already crowded schedule.
But I just want to animate animate animate!

WIP Metal Jacket

A bit overwhelm with loads of work,

I have to do three animations in less than 5 weeks to put together
for my reel and animation. I've also started an acting club as
Vice President and obtain a lot more obligations for this quarter than
intented. Need to organize my time and work. I've bought a weekly planner
and will be using it very frequently.

So a little work in progress on this animation.

New and Final Quarter

So this is a new quarter for me, also my last.
Which means one thing : Work my Butt OFF
I need to create a top notch animation reel.

Beside putting my portfolio and reel together,
I'm going to be working on a 2d animation project and
tons of small 3d animation projects.

I already feel the pressure, and animation seems longer
and harder than before, I think it's the massive due date.
Anyways, here are some of my work in progress pf my 2d and 3d,
hopefully I get to finish these well and soon.

Until Next Time,
