Small Update

Nothing much to say,
Currently on break, spent most of my time rejuvenating
from being burnt. The only problem is that I have this
huge animation to do, and I'm running out of time.
We'll see what we can do.

Just wanted to do a small update, nothing special
There is the Boltz Animation that they just finished
the animation process this month and should be out
by Nov 21st. Can't way to see it,
here's a small extended clip. Really nice job in the animation,
pretty entertaining and the character's subtlety is nicely done.

Actually sent most of my break looking at student work from other
schools and blogs from other amazing industry people. Very inspiring!

Here's an animation done by a Cal Arts graduate Nealon
Incredible work within 4 month period.

So every Wednesday we have a little AIS sketchgroup. I need to be able
to draw more! I've been slacking behind. But it's really good to get out
with some friends and just draw. One of the Jam we said we should do
Crazy Doctors. So I did a few characters of crazy doctors....and a evil
warlord looking guy.

A little sketch of some friends at the last sketch group jam.

I think I'll share with you guys an old animation I did.

This was done in my second year of school? Man, looking
back at it, it's kind of an enbarrassment, but also looking back
I've seen how much I've grown and how much more I need to
grow. Hope you guys like it.

Until Next Time

Finals week

So it's Finals week and I am barely working on anything.
I'm a bit burnt, horrible time for it. Good thing is
I set my time so that I only have one GE class and one
independent study class for this ending half of the
semester.

My animation project is going very slowly. Animating in
2D and make it well, is pretty hard; especially when I am
animating and learning mostly by myself. Woo, self study.

In addition I've mostly finish my sculpture for my project.
There are minor tweaks and not does not officially look like
the character, but not bad for my second character sculpture.
Hopefully by my twenith one, it will look good.

Also, Sketch ground is pretty awesome, we started a sketch group
with some friends from school, I'll just post up a page I did there and
my sculpture. Best of luck.

Update, I guess.

Sorry I haven't been keeping weekly updates here.
I've been currently working on this animation
for the Media Madness film festival thing we are having
at our school, The Art Institute of Seattle. And as
a hardcore "dinosaur/extinct" 2D animator, I have to
try my best to represent.

The problem is that "forced" animation is NEVER a good motivation to get something done and done well. Especially
if you are a perfectionist and want everything to look great,
which end up as a total mess because you are sleepless and full
of negative stressful because you are animating to a very very close
deadline. Trying to finish a short animated film in 10 weeks will
drive you insane. But that's why we are animators, we love
the tedious work, especially when it's going to be premiere at
the theater. If I finish this film, it will be the first time
my animation is going to be on the big screen. So excited, and
premiere date is a few days before on birthday too!

One main thing that I've learned from last quarter's production
(which would be premiere at the film festival as well, however I was
told I am not suppose to post it up anywhere yet.) is that I need
to find BALANCE. BALANCE is the key to success or we will go
insane and start hurting others and especially ourselves, mentally and
physically. It is hard, when you know what you need to do
but can't seemed to put it into work. I need balance, but I am also
pressured by constant deadlines and working. I want to work harder
however my animation flow is currently disrupted and I cannot seem
to draw as freely as I used to. Not to mention our animation lab is
currently in poor shape and the people using the room, doesn't want to be
there. This makes the morale of the place worst for us serious 2D animators.
But, I guess we just need to make the best of things. Animation is my life and
I LOVE IT.

Enough Ranting on. Here's some pencil test I did for the personal animation

These are just pencil tests and mock ups. The Last one was put
together in 30 minutes to test a shot I have on background and
character movement. Everything will be tweaked.
Two weeks! WOOO!
